What is the best way to update an old piece of furniture for a kids room? Chalkboard paint! So far, I’ve painted the armoire and the table but I’m wondering what a chalkboard bed would look like…Somebody stop me!
Since we test every single Sleek Identity products at home before selling them, I love to play around and try different things. It’s my kind of therapy! Here are some pictures of our home (it will probably look different by the end of the week…)!

Swing Necklace
This is the most poetic piece I’ve seen in a long time. Johanna Richter makes this incredible swing out of felt balls. I saw it in Cologne during the imm furniture fair and it took a lot of self-control to not hop in and go for a swing right there!
Balloon Furniture
I’m in love with those pieces! They are from a Dutch designer called Niels Schuurmans. How beautiful and playful! I’m thinking of adding a Made to Order section on Sleek IDentity for all those incredible one off and prototypes that I find. Coming up soon…
Designsponge
Today, Designsponge wrote about two of our products and it was the busiest day of my young Sleek Identity life…
I spend so much time searching for young European designers. I’ve personally scoured all of the artist studios from Berlin to Amsterdam to Paris to bring together new and independent designer’s wares. I’m in love with every single product and I try and test them all myself but what’s the point if no one knows about them, right?
So at the moment, my faith is in the hands of all the bloggers and writers and journalists who can spread the words about the site. So I’ve been emailing and emailing and emailing…and today, I’m so thankful for this encouraging mention. This is just the beginning and I’ll be emailing some more because I believe that EVERYONE should know about those crazy talented designers and their fun products.

HAPPY DAY
First blog entry, first day online…And I couldn’t be prouder! I love all of our products. The biggest challenge in running Sleek Identity is to NOT buy EVERYTHING for myself.
I am so thankful to everyone who played a big part in launching this store! My exceptionally patient and dedicated programmer Moritz, my crazy talented web designer Susanne, all the incredible designers who trusted me with their products, my friends and family who had to listen to my constant joy and sometimes distress of launching Sleek Identity (including long detailed conversations about the horror of international shipping).
I cannot wait to receive your feedback! I’ll be adding more products and information, more features, more pictures…this is just the beginning….and I couldn’t be happier!
